I build furniture, sculpture, and functional objects from reclaimed wood — mostly pallets and salvaged materials. Every piece is shaped by hand at the Edinburgh Forge, and no two are alike.

I never had formal art training. I learned by sanding, carving, and spending enough time with the material that it taught me what works.

Hand-Carved Wooden Bowl

In 2024, I built a pallet boat and rowed from Glasgow toward Edinburgh, we made it as far as Falkirk before time ran out, but the boat held strong.
The next year I built a stronger one, still from pallets,  that crossed the Firth of Forth – twice.

Both adventures helped raise thousands of pounds for charity.

Those projects shaped how I see discarded wood. With patience, trial, and stubborn curiosity, it can go much further than people expect.

Today I focus on making objects that last, shaped slowly and honestly from timber that already carries its own history. One of my pieces was included in the Royal Scottish Academy’s Open Exhibition, which encouraged me to keep pushing the work further.

I previously worked as a photographer, but these days my hands are mostly in wood.
